modèle Maharadscha

Clean, uncluttered lines, squares, rectangles and cuboids make up this timeless and elegant fixture.

The model owes its name to the Maharaja of Indore - Yeswant Rao Holkar.

Between 1926 and 1930, he commissioned the young German architect Eckart Muthesius to design a modern, western Art  Deco palace - the "Manik Bagh Palace", the epitome of luxury and purism.

The history

In the process, Muthesius cooperated with the Art Deco icons of his time: Eileen Gray, Louis Sognot, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Alix and Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. The result was an architectural masterpiece.

Our model's source of inspiration was sold to fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent after his time in India and finally - after his death - auctioned off for 2.5 million euros.

Our tribute is meant to make history tangible and bring to life the legacy of the Maharajah as well as the legacy of Muthesius.
